WHAT FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION ARE ACCEPTED TO VOTE?

DO I NEED A PHOTO ID TO VOTE?

Yes. Missouri requires a non-expired photo ID for voting. Acceptable forms of ID include: A nonexpired Missouri driver's license or non-drivers license; Nonexpired military ID including a veteran's ID card; Nonexpired US passport; or another photo ID issued by the United States or the state of Missouri which is either not expired or expired after the date of the most recent general election.

Out of state driver's licenses, utility bills, bank statements, student IDs, and voter ID cards are no longer acceptable as voter ID. If you do not have an acceptable form of ID, the Secretary of State can assist you in obtaining a Missouri nondrivers license free of charge. Click here for more information. 

 

IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING?

One can register to vote at any time, but in order to vote in an election the voter must have been registered (in his/her proper jurisdiction) by the fourth Wednesday prior to the election. 

 

CAN I VOTE IF I’M NOT REGISTERED?

NO. Federal law requires that all voters must be registered. Click here to download a voter registration form.

 

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT NAMES OR ISSUES WILL BE ON THE BALLOT?

WHAT IF I’M OUT OF TOWN ON ELECTION DAY?

Citizens can vote absentee if they meet several requirements including being absent from your voting jurisdiction on election day. An application for an absentee ballot is available up to 10 weeks prior to an election on the Absentee Voting page.

 

IF I GO INTO THE HOSPITAL BEFORE THE ELECTION, CAN I STILL VOTE?

Absentee teams are available to deliver, witness and return the applications and actual ballot for voters who are: hospitalized or confined due to illness or injury after 5 p.m. on the Wednesday before an election.
